Hi all

Been pointed at PH by a friend on S2ki.

I have just been double-flashed by a Gantry camera on the M25 (between M4 and M40) doing 83 on my speedo (about 81 in real life) with no speed restrictions shown i.e. NSL.

Firstly - does anyone know if these camera's are live....

Secondly - my number plate has one number moved from the right hand group to the left hand group - does anybody know if I am likely to be prosecuted for this as well?

I honestly hope not, as I'm on 6 points from an SP50 a year ago tomorrow (my own stupid fault), and another 6 will put me on a 6 month ban !

Any thoughts or advice appreciated (except any I told you so's, as I'm doing that in my head already)

Thanks in advance
Jo/Dreamer

Hi Jo from someone who's just joined s2ki!

83 seems very unlikely as I normally do 85 down that section.

I can't believe you will be done for the numberplate too - S200Oxx by any chance?

Sit tight and wait out 14 days - I wouldn't panic though

Edited to add - apparently when there is no limit, the limit is very high. I think Plotloss has the details.

Having read and understood your s2ki post - you can't get points for the mis-spaced plate. That's a £30 fine only

Stop the panicking! Looking forward to driving with you when our S2000 arrives in May!!

Def 83 on the speedo, and there were no signs on the gantry's - it seems very low to me too

Are you sure about the plate? I thought you could get points for that?

Fingers crossed!

I bet you a load of that you'll be getting 0 points and no fine from this!

Didn't know if there were any "real" cameras on that section - where was it and were you travelling N or S? Once over the M4 (going North) I had generally thought you were out of camera territory - must be wrong - will need to be more careful in future!

Beggerall, the cameras were originally south of the M4. But they moved them north when they realised there was money to be made

Heading towards the M40, so going North - it wasn't long before the M40 turnoff.

I got flashed at 1am Sun 27th March going anti-clockwise just after the M40 junction. Was doing 80-85 on an empty motorway. I'd only picked up my V6 Mondy from the previous owner and was conducting an experiment to see how far I could get out of it's first tank of Optimax by driving sensibly (keeping it under 3.2k so that the secondaries didn't open up) Otherwise it would have been a bit quicker

Counting down the days now, though the fact that it's had a change of owner means that the 14 day limit is basically out of the window as far as I can tell.

Sounds like the same camera's aspender....

A friend told me he thinks they are new there. So you have another 7 days to go then, it's awful!

Even i f the plate doesn't get me 3 extra points and a ban, I'm not sure I can afford to insure my car with 9 points

You won't get points for the plate and you almost certainly won't get points for any speeding if you go to 'Pepipoo' and follow their advice re: the 'PACE' letter.
