As of this morning...the Cheshire Constabulary's traffic department ceased to exist in it's present form.

There is now a fatal/serious collision investigation unit.

The rest of the traffic cops have been put on a normal duty beat...(with a VolvoT5) and will do traffic oriented stuff like before...but under the 'umbrella' of the local district....

The cameravan enforcement will be increased.

Don't know...Not my force...I just had to speak with them today about an HGV enquiry...

Suspect it's another force's idea of 'modern change'..

Perhaps too many people complaining about how they are dealt with for motoring offences by coppers who should be catching 'proper criminals'...

Get ready for camera overrun in Cheshire now...

It has indeed. They need to be taken out in a flamboyant and spectacular manner. Maybe theyll then get the message that WE WONT STAND FOR THIS SHIT ANYMORE.....or something similar.
Wakey wakey....time to go kick some scamvan ass.

Gary, whilst I wholeheartedly agree with this piece of advice, I can't help but wonder sometimes at your motivation. The Conservative Party has committed itself to cutting the number of speed cameras and reviewing all mobile camera sites. This will appear in their manifesto next week.

Are we to understand that you are a Conservative voter off duty, whilst happily prostituting yourself to a cause you don't support while in uniform? Are you foresaking your political principles to make a quick buck out of people you have political sympathy for? It would be easy to conclude that this makes you either a hypocrit or a liar. Convince me otherwise.

Lots of insults on these threads.
While i understand the reasons i dont think its particularly nice to actually direct em at SC.
He's still a human underneath the uniform.

Also much being talked about in the form of hypocrisy.
Im afraid i find that a little hypocritical cos given the same circumstances for one of us, just how many would go sit in the van?
Personally, theres no amount, and i do mean that,no amount of cash would get me in the back of that van and scamming drivers. Offer me a million and be amazed when i turn it down flat. Oh yes, i would indeed.
Everyone has a price they say....thats only if theyre weak.
Sacrificing ones morals for a quick buck is im afraid part of the human condition, given that, how can anyone criticise Gary?

Like i said before, i dont agree with what SC has decided to do, but its his choice, right or wrong, its up to him to sort out whether or not he feels comfortable with being a part of the machine that is "The Scam", i know i wouldnt do it.

I live in Cheshire & I would think this is more a matter of presentation. Cheshire has a lot of fast rural A roads and a high number of drivers killed each year (it's one of the worst counties for road deaths). They take traffic policing pretty seriously, and have (or had?) a big traffic force. I drive all over the country and it's very noticeable that I'll see a couple of Traffic cars while leaving Cheshire, then not see another all day, but then a couple more after driving back into Cheshire.

I don't know where they could put extra cameravans - Cheshire is swamped with fixed & mobile camera's already. The mobile one's are often on tripods and hidden to the side, or underneath, motorway & fast A road bridges.

Is this the same Streetcop who has taken the devil's money in another thread - prehaps you might like to answer my question in that thread?

That's a bit harsh mate, he's giving us a lot of personal insight and I bet he'd help me if I needed some advice and he'd help many of the other posters on here.

Yes I think that's right, but in my opinion there is an element of rubbing our noses in it that I don't much care for, and this camera van business reinforces that feeling somewhat.

Although we have never met it had seemed that Gary was a bit of a pal of mine for a while, but that seems to be no longer the case, so I have to conclude I've offended him in some way. Probably it was my highlighting of that 18th August nonsense, but by the same token I find the ignoring of an email and no reply to my 'Are you OK Gary?' voice mail message less than impressive.

I'm sorry Gary but I had felt a degree of respect for you without the need to meet you, but some of that appears to have been misplaced. I regret what seems to have happened, but it is not of my making.

Well that's done it now - I guess I'll have to take extra care to behave myself on my future trips along the A42/M42.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Aye, though they're not particularly inspiring in their present form, but whatever happens I really want to see the back of Blair & Co.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

OK thanks for that Gary. I didn't receive a reply to my most recent email, and I've twice tried sending an email to gemini, but that does not seem to have reached him so I must assume there is a problem in the system somewhere. Maybe I've cocked things up somehow.

I'm glad that's cleared up and I shall look forward to chatting with you again in due course.

Best wishes all,
Dave.
