So i was in a car accident around 3 weeks ago and liability of the accident is still being decided. Before they said it might be a 50-50 split, but after acquiring CCTV footage im pretty confident im 100% not at fault. However, my insurance is going to finish in two weeks and my renewal quote from my insurer is 400 pounds more than what i paid last year(2700). I checked another insurer and its 1600 if i wasn't at fault and a full recovery made or 2700 if the accident was my fault and recovery wasn't made.

Not sure if i can switch to a different insurer when a claim is still being settled and if i can switch what should i put down under whos fault the accident was? Kind of in a tricky situation.

Any help would be great!

£2700 to insure a Golf??

You should be looking at cars that are cheaper to run.

It was the cheapest car i could insure(young driver), pretty much every other car was over £3000.

you can change insurer normally you tell them when getting a quote that the claim is still on going and they can tell you how much of a rebate you will get if the claim becomes a non fault claim

but you should be a lot less than 100% certain it will go your way, no matter how much evidence the other person was at fault you have.

Yeah true, however i did give CCTV footage and details of eye witnesses who saw the accident.

What other cars have you been looking at? Things like Skoda Citigo, VW Up etc are generally cheap to insure.
