Was out enjoying the summer evening, doing some drone footage and then as we were leaving some local residents flagged me down and were shouting that we'd broken speed limits etc (hadn't) and that they would be sending footage for section 59.

Likely threat or hot air?

Given that I was able to stop easily and calmly as they flagged me down I can't see how they have an issue with this.

It was a NSL/derestricted road, that went into a 40, so not a 30 zone etc.

Load of cobblers. They are a danger to themselves. I bet the police would be interested in them flagging down cars. Total jobs worths. Nothing better to do.

Is that what they said?

"WE ARE SENDING FOOTAGE FOR SECTION 59" they shouted!

It sounds most unlikely to me.

They were most insistent. Shouting and swearing that it's not a race track etc.

I sense they've had issues on the road before but even so, not my issue really. I was behaving!

The local residents appear to be in need of lessons regarding an S59.

Towards the end of that thread a poster claims to have got 7 people done for speeding from their dashcam evidence. If that's true it's not much of a stretch to think that they could get you an S59 from some mobile phone footage.

I've had an NIP for dangerous and careless driving on the back of some camera footage and a statement made by somebody that sounds a bit like the people who shouted at OP (no further action after police interview).
