Since when did insurance get so expensive??
Discussion
I've just had my renewal through for my current car, and quotes with other insurance companies and they're all over £1k. I haven't paid that much for insurance since my very early 20's! My last car (M5) was £600 to insure! No wonder people drive without insurance when they're quoting 36 year old married homeowners stupid amounts of money to insure a car! £600-£800 I could have understood!

Have you moved house in the last year? Become a professional footballer! What was the premium last year?
yes and no lol. Less risk, less miles, year older, now a home owner and also married. You'd think those would help lol.Newer more powerful car, but less value. I paid £600 to insure my M5 last year. I can insure an F10 M5 for £500 LESS than I can my E55, despite the F10 having more power. It doesn't make any sense.
You have changed risk profiles by changing to an older car even if it has less power much more is taken into account. These are things you have *personally* done.
Secondly, talk to pleb that is Liz Truss for failing to do a full impact assessment of changing the Ogden rate.
Finally, IPT increase in IPT yet again....

Madness really. I'd have been happy at £800 for the year, even though a newer, faster and more expensive M5 would still be £20 cheaper lol.

Ogden Rate change is another useful aid to the lobbyists who have been working so successfully in the past 5 years or so for the insurance industry. They've managed a successful campaign in manipulation of figures to make the public believe we are gripped by a USA style compensation upward curve and the fat cat lawyers driving it need taking down a peg or 10.
And the government, well its a win win either way. Nice little businesses to align themselves with for post-parliamentary non-exec roles, and an electorate who are supportive of policies to make the whiplash claiming scumbags and their greedy lawyers suffer.
Wasn't it supposedly a £50 reduction per policyholder (non-committal) suggestion by the ABI the last time they suggested extending the Jackson reforms?
DL look like they are at least making hay.
