Yesterday i bought new insurance with with direct line but i am yet to receive any email confirming i have bought insurance with them. I have also checked my direct line account and it says 'No Policies Available'. The person i was talking to on the phone said i will receive documents in 7 working days but i thought they would at least send some sort of email. I have checked the askmid website and it does say the car is insured and money has been taken out of my bank account.

Is this normal with direct line or should i give them a ring?

I got an e-mail from Direct Line very promptly:

Directline said:
Your Direct Line car insurance purchase confirmation
Welcome to Direct Line Car Insurance.
You’ll receive your policy documents in the post shortly, but in the meantime see below for a summary of your policy details. Don’t forget to send us proof of your No Claim Discount if we asked you for it.
followed by details of the premium and the policy.

Call.

Could you also see the policy in your direct line account? I think because i bought the insurance over the phone, they didn't send me an email. I'm still going to call just in case.

I think the latest MID result suggests you're on cover with them. I expect when you checked before that was your previous insurer's record and now it's Direct Line's record.

But I'd definitely be hanging on the phone for them to confirm and insisting that they get confirmation to you asap.

I wouldn't let one of my clients wait that long for docs. #justsaying ;-) #choosechartered

I checked the day before and it said 'Volkswagen Golf'. When i switched insurer it changed to the full name and now it has changed back.
