Driving School car accident
Discussion
Just a curious thought as eldest is learning and scares the hell out of me sometimes.
If they caused an accident/crashed obviously the driving schools insurance would cover the cost but if the car has dual controls and the instructor didn't intervene to stop the accident would the learner have to declare the accident to future insurers?
I'm just curious because on one hand I think they would have to, but on the other hand the instructor should on most occasions be able to stop the car or pull on the steering wheel to avoid any incidents.
Over to you all...

From a driving school perspective.
in 15 years we have only had 2 at fault accidents (1 repaired privately, reversed into a post whilst on test), this is around 12-15 cars on the school on average.
If you trust the instructor it should be fine, very rare for an at fault accident to happen.

Wow based on near constant use of the car during the day that got to be better odds than a passed driver. in 15 years we have only had 2 at fault accidents (1 repaired privately, reversed into a post whilst on test), this is around 12-15 cars on the school on average.

It was cheaper to insure my son as a learner than as a qualified driver. Sort of suggests that attitude and experience from having an older qualified driver in the passenger seat means more than dual controls.
Shock revelation!! Teenagers who have passed and drive on their own or with their mates in the car drive worse that when learning with dad in the car. As well as driving at riskier times (4am, on way back from town after night out.) Who knew?

I'd imagine this is more so because as a learner, he needs a qualified driver next to him at all times, whereas qualified he can pile 9 mates into his Corsa and crash it into an orphanage. Can't imagine too many learners getting into accidents with their Dad sat next to them. Statistics and all that.TwigtheWonderkid said:
