About 3 months ago a car parked in our village, recently a front tyre went flat and last night I noticed that there were weeds growing by the kerb, it just looked a mess.

I checked online and it wasn't taxed or insured so I called 101 which was answered quickly but was then put through to the control room (but told not to use the 'call back' feature as it doesn't work!) on hold for over 30 minutes so I gave up.

Emailed the police at about 19.00 last night, car was gone by 10.30 this morning! Big thumbup to Humberside Police, I have sent a thank you message to them.

Thought I post because I've read many on here that abandoned cars are not a police problem and they won't do anything, in East Yorkshire they do!

wish we had the same sort of response here in sussex. We had a van abandoned in the middle of the village awhile back that caused a problem in the narrow street and with limited parking. It was reported to all the usual places and nothing happened even though it was on double yellows. One dark night it was found on its roof blocking the road and was then shifted quickly,I think late night drinking at a nearby pub might have been involved.

If abandoned cars appear to be leaking petrol, they get moved pretty quickly.

They get attended to quicker if they're on fire though.

I will hazard a guess 99% of the 'abandoned' cars you have read about on here are actualy legally parked and correctly taxed and insured. It's just some people dont recognise the car as being someone in their street so claim its been abandoned which is why nothing gets done.

Took more than 9 months here, local authority and DVLA notified. Sat on four flats, moss and mildew everywhere.

I'm the end a local arranged for it to go to a scrappy who got it carted off somewhere
