A50 Yellow 'Max Speed 50' Signs
Discussion
On the Uttoxeter Bypass earlier through what looks like incomplete signage for later roadworks. There are no red/white circular speed limit signs but there are rectangular yellow 'max speed 50' signs.
My understanding of these is that they are advisory only. However my paranoia is now at 10 due to the two police officers on a bridge with a speed gun.
Were they enforcing 50 or 70? I had slowed to around 60-65 based on the advised 50 with no apparent works in place. Others streaming passed at 80+

Normally when you see officers on foot with a speed gun they are looking for targets for a nearby traffic car that will then pull you over. They could be noting down plates but more often than not you see a traffpol motor ~100m along the road in a layby, it's only really the vans which will send you out a letter without so much as waving you down. I wouldn't worry about it.

Advisory, but in some circumstances you may be driving without due care and attention, and/or driving without due consideration for other road users (i.e. Road workers, and other motorists driving at 50)
I agree if there were actual works in place. Which is why I took it as caution to slow. Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
