Wife's sister has been receiving anonymous letters of a nasty tone.

Off the record what is slightly true - things like she gets drunk and is loud and should f**k off and move out.
She contacted PCSO who came round and gave her a hug - no joke - and said they would test the letters for saliva and fingerprints.

Police likely to act on this - she is pretty depressed over it all.

I really can't see the police testing for DNA or finger prints over this...

Not very helpful I know but perhaps she just needs to try to be a less antisocial neighbour.

It sounds like someone young as some of the language is a bit childish - I had to google a couple of the words on the urban dictionary.

If some of the actions complained about in the letters are indeed true, and they are anti-social then I would have thought her first step would be to stop doing those, although I can accept some actions have different tolerances. So for example music can be loud to someone (especially if they have a bee in their bonnet) whilst acceptable to another.

Having improved her behaviour then I would just ignore the letters. The sender probably enjoys the fact they get a reaction. No reaction and the letters will stop. I cant see the Police taking any action unless matters escalate.

So your sister in law has been receiving anonymous letters which in short are telling the truth, maybe she shouldn't be wasting police time on something which they aren't going to do anything about and then take a long hard look at herself.

"Off the record". I am afraid it's on the record now.

"Slightly true". She only gets slightly drunk and slightly loud? Well, she could stop doing that - even slightly.

"Test the letters for saliva and fingerprints". What - after every Tom, Dick and Harriet has had their sweaty paws on the letters?

She should either change her behaviour, or move out. (Preferably both.)

I hope this post has made a useful contribution.

I agree. But would get shot by my wife if I told her sister that she needs to reign her behaviour in. Latest letter was pretty nasty using the C word etc. I can't see the police doing much.

Not wishing marital strife on anyone, but it does sound like that course of action might at least be addressing the cause, not just the symptoms.

Does your wife not agree that her sister is drunk/loud?

She thinks she is a bit loud and doesn't agree with how she parents her kids but knows if she says anything to her she will blow up as you can't talk to her about those things. Maybe why someone sent her a letter.

Maybe? sound like exactly the reason someone sent the letter!

She sounds like the sort of person who likes to do what they want, how they want and when they want then protest their vulnerability and "human rights" when someone dares to put them straight about their behaviour.

Granted the tone of the letter doesn't help the matter but I tend to find these sorts of people all tend to live in similar areas so it's likely your sister in law has annoyed someone just as selfish as she is.

(OP not trying to have a go at you)

...next thing, the OP will be telling us that his wife's sister is a single parent ! Thus competing the full 'chav' stereotype set......

Quick question OP...

Did your "friend" send her the letter and you're now asking for advice as to whether your "friend" could be in trouble?

Second topic on your sister-in-law. You could stop posting topics about her on a motoring forum and go tell her to sort her st out?
