Why would you need a law firm?

Reporting the theft to the police is the usual course of action.

If you want to go after the UK seller then you'll probably need to be able to prove that the car was actually stolen and that the seller knew about it. If it passed a UK HPI check then the seller might have a good defence against knowing it is stolen, as an HPI check showed it wasn't.

If you are looking to take civil action, then what do you hope to get from it? You'd need to prove the seller knowingly sold a stolen car and prove the damages you've suffered. You might be in a better position if it was bought from a dealer, but if bought privately I'd think you've got littlechance of success against the seller.

If you were looking for crimanl charges against the seller then you'd have to report it to UK police. I suspect they'd not be interested unless it was very obvious that the seller had knowingly sold a stolen car, or had been the one to steal the car.... how the hell will you prove that.

You could ask BV or AGTLaw if they have a suggestion. The weekend crowd are not as useful.

Not really.

If it's below low four figures, then it's pointless wasting time, blood pressure and money on it. Chalk it up to experience.
If it's high five figures, then you'll easily find legals willing to take it on...
If it's a big money historic or supercar, then coming soon to the High Court...

Why don't get your cousin to post on here in the first person?

This keeps happening, and we go backwards and forwards asking different questions that you don't know the answer to.

The OP has been deleted, so I don't know the context of the question, but you could try speaking to Jo Chowdhury at Worldwide Repatriations in Warwick.

He's not a lawyer specifically, but he is our go-to guy when it comes to stolen motors and foreign criminals.

His friend bought a car in the UK that had been imported used.
It came up as HPI clear.
He exported it, and it was confiscated as stolen when he tried to register it abroad.

No mention of which countries, or whether they were the same country.
