Sat at the limit of 50 through the average speed cameras in roadworks (nobody working)

Thought they had ended as the road went from 2 to 3 lanes so accelerated to c.75 when I realised that I was still in roadworks and went past the last camera.

Probably only at more than 50 for 200 Yards or so but went through the last camera at well over the limit.

Am I likely to get a fine etc?

If you were at 50 indicated for the rest of the extent of the cameras you are almost certainly OK. Whereas if you were at the 'clever' just less than 57 (enforcement level) on your GPS you may well be screwed.

How far apart are the cameras? If 3 miles then 200 yards at 70 won't increase your average for that section by much. I am sure some mathematical genius will be along with correct figures but I reckon you might be okay especially if you were doing a Speedo indicated 50 the rest of the section.

Thanks all

I was at an indicated 50 (per Speedo).

It was the roadworks on the M62 going towards Hull and not 100% sure of distance between them. My worry was that even though they are average cameras I may have triggered them by being so much over the limit.

I reckon most of these cameras are bluffing and not wired up. Look for the ones with floodlights just before them. Why do all the others not need floodlights?

M62..heading towards Hull.

Not sure if junction but around 20 miles from Leeds. No roadworkers there and they have been there ages.

Agree. You can tell the 'fake' ones, as you say they are the ones without the lights, or they are missing the infra-red illuminators. The ones with the little 'rubber duck' aerials on the top look iffy, I did pull up in a lay-by next to a set a while back, they had a metal 'electrical' box chained to the yellow post, but no power cable going to them.
