Does anyone have any links with info on this lot?, (although I guess it is pretty guarded.)
I see them about a fair bit as most of my working days are on the roads of central London and find them fascinating to watch just how good they are at what they do.

I was just interested on how they get selected, do they apply or are they invited?
How long does the training take and why those specific bikes? They always seem low slung to me, but tbh I know very little about bikes.
Armed maybe?
TA.

They're just advanced motorcyclist traffic cops.
They aren't part of traffic & aren't selected from just traffic (though some who apply will be from traffic). They are part of the Royal Protection Department (although they do jobs outside of Royalty too).Edited by vonhosen on Monday 9th October 23:05

Except this fella who thought he was following his riding instructor to do his Mod 1 until they started caning through red lights without lifesavers.https://youtu.be/bD09gZN339I

DCT Transmissions, what they lose in fine control (as evidenced in the above video of a spectacular low speed high side) they gain in not requiring two hands on the bars when travelling a lower speeds.
I had the misfortune of spending a lunch hour with the guy from Honda who got the contract to supply the Met with them, DCT was apparently a big selling point.

No idea why the SEG use those - better bikes out there.
That & Honda were going to be happy to do a good deal because of the profile it gave.
