BBC said:
A Dundee woman ordered to pay a private parking company £24,500 in unpaid charges has been declared bankrupt.

Carly Mackie had ignored hundreds of parking tickets for leaving her car at Dundee's Waterfront without a permit.

Ms Mackie, 29, who now lives in Paisley, has debts of £37,546 according to Scotland's insolvency service Accountant in Bankruptcy.

I've normally no time for private parking companies, but she was really taking the piss!

Yep. Also admitted she was the driver in the press etc so that went perfectly.

So her argument was that she was entitled to park there because she lived there? Takes the "I own the road outside my house" mentality to a new level!
Has she never considered that living in a city brings inconveniences for car ownership as well as the benefits of city living?

"Sheriff Way said Mackie had parked outside the garage and would not accept the offer of a parking permit for a space nearby for £40 per month."

Just wow. Offered the option of a permit but refused it.

Parking permits have been the norm in London and many other cities for decades, so a private parking permit isn't a giant leap.

From the earlier thread, this is where she was parking.
