Hi all

I've been tasked with swapping a private plate from our company owned Range Rover onto the company owned Transit

The thing is I have no paperwork for the private plate as it was on the Range Rover before I started here and the person that would have dealt with it has left. I also have no idea what the old registration number was. Will I need any of that? All I have is the V5 for the Range and the Transit.

Cheers,

Rick

Go online to DVLA site and put the RR plate on retention (£80).
The original plate will be re-issued to it (DVLA have it in their records) and get a plate made up and fitted (tell your insurance co) and a replacement logbook will follow in the post.
When the retention certificate arrives in a few days, use it to put that number on the Transit (no further cost).
Get a plate made up, inform your insurance co and a replacement logbook will follow.
Any problems - it's all explained on DVLA site or give them a call.

If one or both of them are lease vehicles the lease company needs to do it as they will be named 'nominated' on the private plate documents. You will still have to do a bit of form filling but it's not hard. I believe plate transfers can be done online now with the DVLA. I suspect if you have the V5 docs you can do it yourself as lease companies don't let you hold these.
