Today I have recieved a 4 month ban from driving for no insurance rather than 6 points on my license, as I only passed my test in april I understand that the 6 points would have resulted in an automatic revokation anyway? Now I am wondering am I better off with the 4 month ban when I come to get insured again? Also I know I shouldn't have been driving without insurance but I didn't come on here to get a scolding as I have recieved enough of that from both my parents and the courts..
Many thanks

What was the date you were stopped? What is the story behind the lack of insurance?

Why no insurance? If due to cost you're going to be really upset with this on your record when you do get around to buying it?

Love to hear the phone call.

"I'd like a quote for insurance please ."

How long have you had a licence

"6 months "

Have you got any points on your licence ?

" No but I've been banned for 4 months "

What for ?

"Driving without insurance "

Click...phone goes dead .

" hello are you still there ?"

Firstly - hehe

Secondly - you will have a clean license, but when it comes to answering "have you had any driving convictions in the last 5 years" and you answer "Yes" (Because you'll have learned from your mistakes and be 100% honest). The insurers will either a) laugh you out of the internet or b) slowly slide down your trousers and insert a multiple thousand pound sized dildo inside your ahole.

HTH.

You've answered your own question. To avoid you license being revoked and having to take a retest.

Is it just a ban vs 6 points and a ban?

I live in northern Ireland though I always thought if you got a ban withing the first 2 years it was an automatic retest? Maybe I'm wrong here

Shouldn't you have figured this out before you went to court?

It does sound like the OP was trying to do the right thing.

I'm pretty sure that the ban is still a far better option than getting the six points and having to resit the driving test with all the attendant palaver and I doubt that the insurance aspect will be any worse than if he had received the six points - it's not like he's been done for drink or dangerous driving, is it?

Did you not ask the barrister? He'd probably be best placed to answer that
