With speed cameras everywhere and smart motorways bristling with HADECS/SPECS etc I think its quite good to see this kind of work being done....i.e. they are actually out there looking for and catching people doing stupid stuff like driving without a belt on, using a mobile phone, drunk driving or not having MOT/Insurance.

All of the above can carry on as normal under speed camera supervision. Just keep the speed sensible... and they're away. But actively checking on people, a novel idea, should actually make things safer so its good to see.

I am shocked I have to say at the number they caught not wearing a seat belt. Nearly 50%! I mean who does that these days? no one I know even thinks about putting a belt on, its muscle memory. A quarter were caught looking down at their phones whilst driving too. Terrible.

I would question whether they were truly 'driving' as well. Sitting behind a wheel of a moving vehicle, maybe.

iirc a while back that HGV caught a HGV driver on the A38 while cooking beans/dinner on a gas stove.
