I was driving home about 4am on Sunday morning and go on the m60 at sinister island and got off about 3 junctions down for Preston. I forgot about the average speed camera for couple of mins and probs went about 70 then when I realised went down to Between 40 and 50 for the rest. I'm wondering now will i be fined. I've heard they don't work, don't work at night but I can't really see this myself. I've also heard it takes a couple of weeks to come through. As it was New Year's Eve morning, do you think they'll be a chance it does take longer with their being a build up of fines from over xmas?

Subject to a few statutory exceptions, they have 14 calendar days to serve a Notice of Intended Prosecution on the registered keeper of the vehicle.

Unless the contrary can be proven, a NIP is deemed to have been served two business days after posting.

The presence of Public Holidays or weekends does not provide them with an extension.

Is it over the full stretch I've been going down or each section?

genuinely shocked by that, they’ve been understaffed and very busy and have only been doing people going way in excess of the advised limit. Feel sorry for her, it’s easy done.

Do you think I've a chance of not getting fine Matt?

That article refers to a static camera rather than the average speed ones.

However, it is a DM article, therefore the quality of journalism to be expected is not very high.

I wouldn’t hold your breath, from what Matt said about his friend it looks like they’re being quite strict which is at odds with what I’d been told by an officer.

I did a SAC last year and a few of the people there were caught on then M60 in that area. It’s easy to see which ones are working, they have massive floodlights just in front of them.

Travelling in the direction you’ve said, the first set just before the Whitefied turn off are active and the ones up the hill just before the Swindon turn off are active. The others on your shirt trip are inactive IIRC.

The floodlit ones are just to capture a lit image of the vehicle for comparison to the VRN. All the cameras are active, you don’t need to illuminate everyone in the section.

Not convinced. You can see a red glow on the ones with floodlights, nothing on the others.

You won’t always see a red glow. Top tip

My approach is simple anyway. Cruise control set to 57 and off I go. Never had any bother with this approach.

I ""forgot" about a camera I pass regularly on the A541 near Pontblyddyn, it was on Boxing night at 10.40pm and I got the N.I.P on the 30th December, I was doing 47mph in a 40 so at least I've been able to book a speed awareness course.

I went through the first camera today at 57-58 on my Speedo not realising the speed and slowed right back down. Will I be ok? I’m assuming it takes an average from one point to another?

I’m sure you’ll be fine.
