Speed limits on private property.
Discussion
Pretty sure that the lowest enforceable speed limit is 20 mph, although I've no idea why I think this so there's an even chance I'm making it up.
Dunno if you would get in trouble from the police for speeding on private property, but I guess the owner could request that you don't come back on to it? I was asked to slow down by the receptionist at my old gym - apparently I was spotted going faster down their access roads than the security bloke was happy with.
They couldn't give me a ticket, but I guess I could have been banned from their land or something...

Does anyone know where the law stands with this? Is a 15 mph speed limit enforcable?
If someone breaks it are they considered to be speeding within the eyes of the law or is it down to the land owner to deal with?
Yep, it's a civil issue. You could be banned from the property if the landowner didn't want you on the premises any more but the police wouldn't give a monkeys about the "speeding" unless you were (for example) going so quickly that careless/dangerous driving could be proved.

What if the police were currently sitting on that property with a speed gun? Could one assume that they give a monkeys?
Also note that I'm not in trouble for anything, it's just that I know they're there and was wondering were one would stand in the eyes of the law.

I'd ask them what the hell they were doing, AFAIK there is no legal process to setting a speed limit on private property. If this is no longer the case then I would like them to come to my local supermarket as I'm sure I saw a chap exceeding the 10mph "limit" last time I was there.

I shall do when I bump into one, I assure you. Quite strange since there don't seem to be many people speeding that I've ever seen. As far as I was always aware, a limit like that was a request and non-enforcable.
Just so you know, I asked the guy and he says it's because some people have been driving through there dangerously. He may raise the speed limit and he may end up putting in a barrier. The police have no legal authority over speeders and cannot prosecute for breaking the 15mph limit.
He is also considering raising the limit to 20mph.

Didn't Prince 'arry or William get a rollicking for tearing up someone's estate after a Polo match last year?
I don't think the BiB would be too worried about speeding on private property unless there was a danger to other members of the public.
There's an old house near Penn with a long uphill drive which has been used many times in the past as a hillclimb course, and I guess the police wouldn't intervene nowadays at the Festival of Speed either!!

I think the Police can only charge someone for dangerous driving if found to be commiting such an act on private property.
I compete in motorsport and a few years back the above law became a threat to the sport. It had ben resolved with the fact that as we were competition licence holders we were exempt to a certain degree while competing at a venue, but still had the possibility of being prosecuted. I would imagine this would only be enforced if involved in a serious accident while competing.
This was a few years back so I may have missed something out.
