Someone back at the Nick obviously doesn't like him.

Perfectly reasonable IMO, and something we should all be entitled, scratch that, REQUIRED to do once in a while.

Its a bit worrying, because those Roads Policing Vectras are supposed to have calibrated speedo's... which are evidential in court (ie I was keeping up with the accused, with my speedo registering nearly 160mph, your honour).

Gulp.

Hmm.

A 3.2 V6 Vectra has a claimed top speed of 154 according to Vauxhall (via What Car) so I guess 160 could be a possibility on a properly sorted example that happened to be better than average - given a long enough empty stretch of motorway. Even without a downhill section and a following wind ...

I think it's perfectly fair enough..after all if I was alone on an empty stretch of motorway when I knew there were no scameras and I was in the Ginetta, I'd definitely be doing close to 160mph...and not for the first time either

Y'know, I get so bloody tired of this.
Am I the only motor engineer in the whole country who has chipped police cars?
Why do they keep it a secret?

Ive driven ex police cars Iolaire and i can confirm what youre saying.
They do have tuned up vehicles.
They do have uprated suspension and brakes.
They do have sump guards like rally cars(ive seen em).
I drove an ex plod V70 auto that went like the proverbial rocket...wheelspin in 1 2 and drive...
So yup they can go some.

Not to mention that the range on full tank is only of the order 120-150 miles when used :ahem: as it is meant to be used, even though a Vectra and as Iolaire points out :ahem: not exactly per GM OEM spec.

Mind you there are a lot of plod vehicles where the only mods are

a)a modified wiring loom for all the lights radios etc and
b) :cough: heavy duty front seats. :cough:

The vast majority have no mods. We did have a problematic Volvo T5 where the ECU kept going wrong. Engineer came out and asked how fast we would like it to go! I was told the car went from its circa 240 bhp in standard trim to nearer 300!

The old "honing my skills" one is a bit dodgy. Refresher training is conducted at driver training school, not on the whim of an Officer. Otherwise we could drive however we like and just claim to be "honing our skills."

FWIW - I reckon the Danagerous Driving will be dropped and he'll probably be done for the speeding.

Video system triggered by hitting a speed bump on the
way to a immediate response call.

An A30 message was left reporting the fault, the next shift noticed this and seems things followed on from there.....

What worries me slightly is the fact that the in-car video does not seem to run continuously anyway. Shouldn't all police cars (not just traffic) have this?

And people wonder why there is no respect for the police.

Pathetic and sad.

160mph in an UNMARKED, NO LIGHTS FLASHING car. I don't give a Flip if he's an advanced driver. Make sure the book bounces back of his head when they through it at him.

I goes against all the reasons cops give for being safe whilst driving at speed.
