Hi, I never been in trouble with the cops before... but always have had a heavy right foot. Anyway, I was on a single carriageway early in the morning and there was no traffic. I was on a long straight and thought to myself how fast can this go, have a 1999 fiat coupe 20v turbo by the way. Got up all the way to 120 - 130 and then saw faint blue lights in my rear view, so I instantly slowed right down. The cop pulled me over and said he clocked me at 130 and had to do 150 odd to catch me. (Even though I pretty came to a stop when I saw him) surely he wouldn't have to do 150 to catch me?

After a long talk he let me go, but said I'm probably looking at a big and a possible ban. Anyone on here have any experience with this kind of situation? I really need transport to get to work otherwise I'm fked.

Yeah, you are pretty much fked tbh. Take a shortish ban and spend the money the points on your licence would cost in raised insurance on taxis to work.

I'm no expert but that sort of speed over the limit is surely going to net a longish ban, not a shortish ban? And/or a really massive fine?

BTW, MrsC and I both own a 20VT Coupe so I'm not doubting the speed you achieved. I'm told that a good, standard 20VT will show 165mph on a GPS speedo on the right roads.

If you're lucky you'll get 9 points.

If you're unlikely you'll get a month or two in clink.

Those Police Vauxhall Astras can shift can't they? OP, how fast do you think they would have to go to catch you you up if you had (from your description) a substantial lead?

Google street view of where this happened would help OP

How did they clock you in the first place? Either you must have gone past them or they were behind you when you decided to put your foot down. Police cars dont cruise around at 120-130mph in order to catch up with speeders!

My daughter's boyfriend got off with six points having been caught at 107 in a 60. He represented himself in court and impressed the magistrate with his sob story. The court officials were aghast.

I was caught doing 189 past a school at 9am on a Monday morning on my bike, front wheel 6ft in the air wearing shorts and flip flops.
Copper let me off as he was impressed by my riding skillz and the size of my todger.

About as truthful as the OP’s story methinks

There's quite a few PH cliches packed into that story.

Lol. A 1990s Fiat is never gonna get to 130mph without exploding into smithereens. Someone is yanking yer chain.
