A friend, who it turns out has terminal cancer, was driving from Hampton Court last week for an appointment at the Royal Marsden, Sutton.
Her Hyundai i10 gave up the ghost in traffic at the Tolworth roundabout.
Help was not far away as two officers in an un-marked car quickly helped push it to the side of the road.
Not only that but they then proceeded to drive my friend and her sister all the way to the Marsden in time for her appointment.
Guys, I hope you read this or someone else knows who it was and passes on very heartfelt thanks.
I take my hat off to you for your kindness and consideration - you are a credit to the force.
Cheers, Pewe.

Why not write a letter to the force’s Chief Constable? There’s more chance of it getting to them than a random post on Pistonheads.

Considered that, Gavia but I don't think she obtained their names and even if it was an outside chance I'd hate to drop them in it - although it could have been their own private vehicle wink

There is no chance they would be dropped in it. Police officers are allowed to give lifts to people at their own discretion and very often do.

Hi Pewe, I do believe that was myself, although I was on my own and 2 motorists helped me push the car out of the way, as I started to struggle on the last shove!! Although it was Tolworth roundabout, I work for Surrey and was on my way to a job in Ewell when I came across your friend.
I'm happy that I could be of some help that day and I'm glad she got her gloves back a couple of days later.

Cancer is horrid, I have 2 members of my family who are going through it and have seen the effects it's had on them. I wish there was more I could have done

FE thank you so much. You did more than she could have hoped for - you're at true gent.
Fortunately it was recovered quickly and only needed a new battery.
Best regards, Pewe

Top Man FE.

Similar happened to my dad quite a few years ago when he broke down on the M1 on the way to a hospital appointment for tests on his heart. There was quite a long waiting time for the test - and he really needed it. Boys in blue took him through to the hospital....

You, sir, are a credit to the force, and should be a role model not only to other police officers, but to the rest of society at large. I wish there were more people like you in every walk of life.
