Drove from Middlesbrough to Kettering the other week, must have passed a dozen speed camera's and at least 3 were burnt out! Seems like this is getting more & more common.

Ya know these arsehole coppers who make statements like " Its putting peoples lives at risk" ...are they in the same dimension as the rest of us?
What makes these tts think that the road is any safer when the mobile unit ISNT there then???
Doh! So it got burnt to a cinder, so its gonna knock a 50k hole in their theft budget...so what?
Thats all theyre into; cash cash cash, numbers and freakin stats!
How about how many lives theyve RUINED cos of their speed fixation? How about how many lives their stupid incompetent "road safety idea" is costin the rest of US?
They dont give a toss about that its money first, second and last.

I notice theyve given a number to report to them on....had many hits havent they? lmao!
I hope they get hit every other frigging day!

Burn baby burn!

Whilst setting light to scameras is effective, it only has a temporary effect . They're very obvious and they get noticed and replaced. Surely a more effective method is to paint the lens so it cannot take photos whilst appearing to be unharmed from a distance?

I'm guessing it is more an act of rebellion and public display of not liking the camera rather than a means to disable it.

I've seen at least one speed camera set light to that was serving a good purpose. It was positioned on a nasty junction on a NSL road and I fully support that one. Generally I am against most speed cameras as very few are placed in genuine blackspots. It is a shame that the people who vandalise them don't pick and choose which ones to hit more carefully.

I am speaking totally hypothetically here as I'd not wish to be thought of as someone who condones vandalism, whatever the cause etc etc ....

I'm thinking more along the lines of putting a black sticker over the lens so its only found when they change the film & find its a load of blank photo's. Either that or a bright sticker with a slogan on it encouraging people to rebel against the scammers.

We dont have many fixed scamera's in the north east, would rather have them than the number of mobile vans we have though, at least then we could have some fun with them. They dont move around every bloody hour either!

All photographers know that black paint, tape, etc. obscure out all or parts of a lens and therefore the photograph. They use things like petroleum jelly to diffuse the picture taken, the thicker and more smeared teh jelly, the more diffuse the photograph. It is much more difficult to tell from a distance that a lens has been diffused rather than blacked out. It can be hard to tell close up at a glance.

Just thought some of you might be interested in this photographic item. Sorry if it's in the wrong Forum.

Anything you like if it helps to reduce the number of people being penalised simply on the basis of their speed. I'm totally opposed to this ridiculous fixation with the speed factor.

Best wishes all,
Dave.
