Went to the tip this afternoon and was waved through a box junction by a young lad in a flourescent jacket. I told him that I would ove when the exit was clear. He told me it didn't matter as it was private land.

I told him that they don't paint box junctions due to an excess of yellow paint.

Can a BiB tell me what the strict legal position is, please?

Thanks

If it is on private land and is not a "road" under the Road Traffic Acts then the yellow paint is as much use as a one legged man at an arse kicking contest.

If you want to take it further have a word with your LA Traffic Management Department to see if they have authorised the sign. If so, then said kicker has grown another leg.

Thanks, DVD. I may just write anyway given that the box junction is intended to keep the road clear so that access in/out is possible.
