Our of curiosity, is it possible to get caught speeding after you go under the gantry and speed up.

Surely these are those newer radar based cameras so if you speed up after the camera you can still get caught?

Saw a bloke this morning go through at 60 under the gantry with a limit of 60, we both went through at 60 together, he accelerated straight after the gantry and the camera flashed...

Disagree, it's not downward pointing radar. All detections and photographs are after you've passed the gantry, it's just a question of what range the cameras have. Expect PMB to be along in a minute and say that they can trap you up to 2 km away smile In heavy traffic your plate would be quickly obscured by following traffic, so i suspect a couple of hundred metres and you'd be in the clear.

There are calibration markings on the road at some of the new gantries, which suggests the range is short, but I wouldn't be surprised if these were bluffing.

A couple of hundred metres would put you under or even beyond the next gantry.

If you are referring to our resident ex-submariner, that moniker is no longer active
He changes them so often it's hard to keep up. It's almost as if he has something to hide... wink

I thought that Hadecs 3 did not use / need those?

no camera legally needs them i believe, they just make visual confirmation much easier, although they have software that can do it accurately with no need for the bars

from the 4 people i saw flashed by HADECS on the M25 approaching the tunnel last night it looks like the target zone is about 50m in front of the gantry, which would be comparable to a GATSO target zone given the increased height of HADECS

That feels like a good game for PH company director types and their super-fast cars...go under the gantry on the speed limit and hoof it! Not gonna work in my Touareg though! You have to be doing exactly the speed limit though, not 10%+1.99999. Dashcam evidence required.

HADEC 3 don’t need the markings on the road. The camera (and radar) point at an angle across the lanes, the further from the near side youare the later the flash (and detection)

That's the answer. The rest of the answers by others are not correct.

Said blike didn't wait long enough to RUAFO.
Or he saw the camera flashing someone behind him who was in the 'catchment area' and doing a lot more than 60.

The possibilities are almost endless smile
