I had a set of alloy wheels / tyres I wanted brought to Cornwall from Kent and as they weren't wrapped, I couldn't use a regular courier. I posted the job on Shiply and accepted a quote from someone advertising as a 'man with a van' with next day and weekend deliveries. They collected the wheels last Friday and that's when problems started. The delivery guy went from answering messages in minutes, to reading mine and ignoring them. Eventually he said he would message me Monday re delivery.

Monday comes and nothing so I chase him again, eventually being told the wheels will be delivered Today. (Thursday) Yesterday, I get a message saying I need to pay the balance owing on the delivery and quoting a shiply email address. I told him I would pay on delivery. At this point he tells me he basically hasn't got fuel enough to reach Cornwall etc (Yes, I know I'm an idiot for trusting someone) and he gives me what I thought was the Shiply paypal email address. I pay the balance and that's the last reply I had. He has ignored all attempts at contact since.

Now I know I can eventually get my money back from PayPal but can I report the wheels stolen, or is this going to be a 'civil dispute'? I have the guys name, address etc from Shiply. It seems that Shiply have now also kicked him off their website, so I assume I am not the only case.

Hopefully plod will come along to confirm if they would be interested but I would report it as theft. Why should these people get away with it?
