12 months for 35 in a 30 ?! Wtf Police State!
Discussion
Thank goodness they spent two years of police time and resources to take this danger to society off the streets ! Good work. Why focus on stabbings, acid attacks or burglary eh ?

Good result by the police. Well done.

Really OP ..... 12 Months doesn't even begin to recover the resource used to identify & prosecute him, In my world I'd make him sell his house and possessions to pay the actual police resource used to identify & prosecute him,https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/09/walter...

The same police could have taken him to court straight away for 35mph in a 30 limit. They didn’t though, they probably offered a course or a fixed penalty. The chap refused one or both by attempting to get away with the speeding offence. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/09/walter...

The penalty is supposed to wind you up, it would me and I’ve issued 100s of thousands of them.
He’s perverted justice, the alternative for him was to accept his punishment like a reasonable man FFS!

I really can't grasp how little intelligence you possess, your ability to comprehend the judicial process just doesn't exist, even when written in layman's terms.https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/09/walter...

"The penalty is supposed to wind you up"? Please elaborate, I thought the penalty was supposed to be a deterrent and a proportional punishment for the crime (I am not saying this penalty is not fit for the crime by the way, I thoroughly agree with it).You have issued 100's of thousands of them, personally as a Police Officer pulling people over or do you operate a camera van?

If the penalty has no impact then why bother? I’d be annoyed to get one, that the annoyance would be directed at myself for being a tit doesn’t stop it being annoying You have issued 100's of thousands of them, personally as a Police Officer pulling people over or do you operate a camera van?

Not wanting to feel like that again must be part of the deterrent, the fine is affordable, three points is “so what” territory on a licence that’s not already stacked up with them.
If “winds you up” is in that context I’ve no issue with it.
And OP, this single issue hobby horse is a bit odd. You’re wrong, conspiracy to pervert is a serious crime and is always treated as one.
The guy's and idiot and deserves the punishment. It's a shame they didn't give a similar punishment to this guy.

Good old British engineering
The story made me smile - hats off to the investigation team.
Chat to any "man down the pub" and he'll tell tales of just giving the details of somebody else when you get a speeding fine and you'll never get caught. Just goes to show that isn't the case.
£1600 - I expect if he'd been hit with the real bill for all their work it would have been double that.

Wrong.
Just deserts.
It's a hot topic. To give him his dune, he probably thought it was a sandstorm in a teacup, but the PCJ was the straw that broke the camels back...Wrong.
Just deserts.
