It's really simple. Drive at the limt, not over it.

That way, you won't need to worry about generates with camp and a speed gun, or unmarked dacias. It's their country, so it's their rules.

It's both N roads and autoroutes and the 8 hours are spread over 24 so day and night,

In our area (Haute-Vienne/N Dordogne) there seems to be a backlash against fixed cameras, I've seen 5 vandalised cameras in the last 2 weeks and one in particular seems to get vandalised days after it's repaired/replaced and that's been going on over a year now so someones got a big grudge around there.

True and it's a French wide issue!

We go to our place in Bergerac once or twice a month and continually see smashed/burnt/flattened speed cameras. I see more cameras smashed and inoperable than I see working. The MO, from the local papers/news, seems to be a pickaxe through the lens followed by petrol!!

Outsourced speed enforcement vans here in Ireland too for many years. The police pick the locations and durations. The company GoSafe are paid £1M per month for 8000 hrs of enforcement and 5% just monitoring.

The civvy cars in France just take a photo and the fine is sent via post to your address, unless you have a UK reg vehicle, then you won't hear anything as far as I'm aware.

If you would like to see the registrations for the radar cars in Normandy, here they are;

OK.

Imagine the reaction on here, especially amongst the more febrile posters, to a bunch of foreigners discussing how they could avoid getting caught whilst speeding in the UK; there'd be outrage. But if 'we' go 'there', it's fine to drive illegally. Riiiight.
