M4 Scamera Protest Attendance
Discussion
From reading the many posts in the different topics covering this event, it is almost impossible to get any idea of the number of vehicles planning to attend.
Therefore, in order to help us determine the number of posters to print, if you are planning to take part, please add your name, and the location (Delamere or Membury) from which you plan to start, to the list below.
Anyone will, of course, be more than welcome to turn up in the day.

Apologies for "nicking my own posting" here !!! I posted this lot about 40 minutes ago under the "anyone up for a protest" thread"
The text of that post follows:
The protest has been publicised on national TV, press and media. We have other websites that are publicising us, from motorcycle forums to local village websites!
We have the local police as close to being “on our side” as we are likely to get them (well, publicly, anyway !!!)
I have had well over 300 e-mails from people telling me that they will be there and/ or offering support. We have contingents coming from Wales – both north and south, both of course with their own “little local difficulties” with speed cameras.
The “fighting fund,” donations from ordinary members of the public, stands right this minute at a few pence over £225. Not a lot in cash terms, but the significance is immense – just ordinary people who have heard about what’s going on and they want to do something to help (If you would like to donate, www.m4protest.org has a “donate” button)
We have had messages of support from other countries (yes, OK, Wales and Scotland, but also from the Irish Republic)
Ordinary people are stopping me in the street around here and all saying a variation of: “I saw your protest in the paper/ on TV. I’m coming and a couple of friends are coming with me”
I think that we have hit a raw nerve here. Many of the general public are as sick and tired of speed cameras as people who contribute to motoring forums. If we can get – and keep – the general public on our side, then we have a case and an argument that our politicians would be unwise to ignore.
This could be the largest and most important challenge that the speed cameras have ever seen. It could be the start of something bigger – if enough people get involved and enough people in other parts of the country also start to challenge the dubious statistics put out by partnerships, it might – just might – lead to a review of the way that the roads are policed, and an eventual scrapping of the speed camera due to overwhelming public opposition.
Many radio stations and newspapers have asked me over the last few days how many people will be attending; I quite simply can’t give them an accurate figure. However, I do say to them that I am being pessimistic when I say, quite honestly, that I will be surprised if less than 500 people turn up on the day.
I look forward to seeing YOU there!!
