Fender bender with taxi

In theory you should always inform your insurers but I would offer a sensible sum to the taxi owner/driver for damage and move on.
That's my hope. A grille is under £100, so maybe a mobile dent/paint/repair plus a signed letter could be used and we all move on with life. It would almost certainly be cheaper than my excess. My rear bumper does actually have some damage, but I'm not fussed. Just another scar to add to the many on it

Who's going to source this grille? Fit it? Pay for his lost earnings whilst it gets sorted? You may get lucky in that he's happy to do it outside of insurance but it's unlikely to be cheaper than your excess.
