Have a colleague who’s probably “not gonna have a good time”...

110 past a flash in the night on the M1 off a fixed gantry.

Does anyone have actual experience of what this leads to?

My guess was 6 points, £250 fine and possible small ban if she was doing 100 in reality, probably bit more painful if she was doing 105 in reality.

Anyone been to court with similar?

Get him a solicitor, possibly direct him to AGT on here.

There really is nothing more than that really.

Fortunately, it's not my concern to get her a solicitor! But good tip, I'll pass that on.

Was hoping for a straw poll of what sort of punishments people saw, just out of interest. Anyone been hit hard for this?

If I'm reading correctly, current sentencing guidelines, assuming 110 in a 70, are band C fine (125%-175% weekly income, capped at level 4 on the standard scale(£2,500)) and 6 points or disqualification for 7-56 days.

That is really useful - and broadly in line with what I had been guessing. Thanks for the detail.

If I remember correctly, 'some one' may have been stopped at 107 M62, in 2010. £250 or £350 fine, (can't remember clearly which figure, sorry), 6 points, £30 'victim surcharge. No Ban.

Cost 'them' more for a solicitor, £500 pre paid wink and £300 new suit!! If 'they' hadn't pre paid an agreed price and just gone with time charged, it would've been £1,400 or so the solicitor moaned afterwards!!

Maximum is £2500 as stated. Fine is Band C - but not as described. You’ve outlined the range and omitted to mention discount for an early guilty plea (typically up to one-third off).

Ban is actually any length but the guideline is 7-56 days or 6 penalty points. As they like to say, a guideline is only a guideline.

At 96/70 and above you should expect an SJPN. Then either the case concludes or you are sent a notice of proposed driving disqualification or a summons to court.

If you prefer points to a driving disqualification then the best strategy is usually to try to deal with the SJPN case online. But it depends on your circumstances.
