An idiot in a Range rover sport reversed into my 635i whilst parked at Sainsburys, smashing most of the lights and destroying the rear bumper. They drove off knowing fine well they had hit my car. I followed them for three miles flashing my light and beeping the horn but they refused to pull over.

At this point I decided the car must be stolen and since we had entered an industrial estate with clear roads I thought I was doing her Majesty's finest a favour by performing a pit maneuver to stop the car.

I successfully turned the car enough so that it went onto the verge and stopped. I called the police and they were on site within 5 minutes. The Range Rover was being driven by some chavy young girl in a pink tracksuit. The Police arrested ME for dangerous driving and stated I would probably lose my licence as there were two children onboard the range rover.

What is my best argument for retaining my licence and should I sue the range rover driver for hit and run?

Annoying she hit your car and drove off.

But... you have landed yourself in a whole world of hurt.

If true (which I doubt) you may well be looking at custody.

Get off the internet and get some proper legal representation.

Cant imagine why she wouldnt pull over.
Then after you corner her in an industrial estate with 2 kids the police have the cheek to arrest you ?

It was Jordan wasn’t it? Oh I forgot you said young.

So on a clear industrial estate you could not have overtaken and pulled up in front?? I call custard. Let’s see your damage to the rear and your front wing.

If there is ANY truth in this you’ll deserve whatever you get.

And it’s manouvre.

It probably would be easier to have taken the plate and spoken to the owners of the car park to check CCTV.

Rather than bleating here, better you get some legal representation - You're going to need it.

At least the OP has consistently used American spelling ("maneuver" and "license").

Your "correction" is simply wrong for both English and American spelling.
