Hi,

Are there any people here who can definitvely confirm what course a person must evidence to be deemed blue light appropriate?

The reason I ask is because I have always assumed the previous 3-week, now 4-week future quals course was the gold standard for ambulance crew.

sadly, ive come across private company drivers in the last few weeks who admit to only receiving 1 hour of training (yes you read correctly).

Ive trawled the 2006 act; appreciate the NHS see the L3 as gold standard but wonder what would happen if these people had an RTC on blues?

Feedback welcome!

Reg 19 of Road Safety Act 2006 isn't in play yet as far as I'm aware, so there isn't a definitive legal requirement.

I drove for a volunteer organisation and only got cursory training that basically checked I could drive a big white van. First blue light run was somewhat "exciting". Each organisation's programme is probably different and budget constrained.

Ty; both comments valid. I had a look online for any test cases where a driver on a day/week course had an RTC and i couldn't find any. So I guess that means its either ok or there haven't been any in that scenario!

If there was a flurry of accidents, I imagine the insurance companies would put a stop to it quicker than legislation ever would.
