Whats the score regarding talivanners breaking road laws to enforce speeding laws?

Are they allowed to enforce after breaking them?
What happens in respect of the "offences" they caught on film while acting from a position of illegality themselves?
Are they still allowed to carry on and use the evidence?

Im asking cos i spotted a doozy today but couldnt get the video camera out fast enough to snap the bastard.
I can however still nail the SOB as he had broken the law to set up in the position he had.

Any thoughts on this?
