A court date and, most likely, a ban.
Quite possibly with a hefty fine thrown in. My step-dad was caught going about 105 a few years ago and escaped a ban *very* narrowly by pleading he would lose his job, I think the fine was about £900. If he was going 12 miles an hour faster I doubt they would have let him off so lightly.

Wrong forum, but hey ho. Mods will move I'm sure.

He should expect a short term ban at that speed, unless he's very very lucky and can prove the exceptional hardship OTHER people will experience if he loses his licence.

I'd think ban, big fine. No points.

Has he had an NIP come through?

To be pointed at and laughed at, as he waits for the bus.

Remind him that he's better off taking a taxi or bus to the court date.
I believe they take your license on the spot, so he doesn't want his car parked in a multi-story.

You can either get banned, or get points, not both.

I agree with your opinion on outcome though.

I did a 127 mph case last month. 60 day ban. He was on 9pp at the time.

117/70 is usually a 1-3 month ban. However, if you have 6 or more relevant points then they may be looking at a ‘totting up’ disqualification of at least 6 months.

A court fine is based on income. Hefty income = hefty fine. Low or no income = small fine.

Arguably the smaller your income the more hefty a fine is, in terms of income.

Arguably, the smaller your income the less you give a st about the fine in the first place. Fines are a sponger's paradise.

I’m confused. Isn’t that what he said?

If you’re being pedantic then yes it is, but the suggestion is that it’s possible to get a ban and points, which it isn’t.

If I was on 9 points, I doubt I'd be doing 27mph, let alone 127, just to be on the safe side. I really don't understand the mindset of some people.

Is he still on 9pp when the ban ends or are they wiped as part of the ban?

50mph average speed camera from the M25 - Gatwick or a Gatso type (other speed cameras are available!)?

Probably in for a ban as mentioned either way.

127mph in a 50mph would be harsh...

Well to be very pedantic, it actually is ..... or at least it used to be. I got a seven day ban for speeding and 6 points. When my licence came back it had void stamped across the points.

Hence why I pushed for a ban as it voided the points.

If he was banned for totting, his licence would be wiped clean at the end of the ban.

If the ban was awarded for the speeding offence, any existing points on his licence would remain until they expired naturally.

That is probably because you stay close to the limit all the time. If you happen to be someone that does low 80s, then knocking a few mph off that because your licence has some points on it is no great hardship. But if you do regularly travel at 3-figure speeds, then having to rein that back into legal territory is a real struggle. It feels like walking, and that reduction in speed also brings you into a scenario where your interaction with other road users increases massively. Which is not a pleasant experience.

What a load of old bks. If you're on 9 points for 3 speeding offences, and you get done for speeding again, you're an idiot. If you're on 9 points, and you get done doing 127, then you are so terminally fking stupid that you really should be allowed on the road again. You clearly don't have the self control or decision making skills to make you a half decent driver.

Sorry, but I’ll take agtlaw’s expertise in this area over an anecdote.
