My Vauxhall van has broken down again with turbos failing again.
It has been at the local dealers for over three months with the engine having been stripped down to find what the cause of the problem is.
Van is still under warranty.
I still have no vehicle with no courtesy vehicle been offered to me.
What procedure do i need to do as to get the van back and can i claim compensation for this as i feel its their fault for the breakdown.

New van ?
Second-hand van bought used ?

Try rejecting it if it's not fit.

Why no courtesy vehicle ?

those VX DTi vans are just rubbish, you'd be better off buying a clean 'old' transit and run that instead and when this get's fixed just get rid of it.

Second hand from a private dealer,it was 10 months old when i bought it.
Vauxhall wont give you a van but Renault will as a friend of mine has the same van with his turbos gone.
Im going to get rid of it when its done and get an old Transit.
Just wondering where i stand on a legal front as i am without the van and i would of had to hire a van at my expense if i hadnt got a vehicle on stand by.

So you have no contract with Vauxhall or any of their dealers.

How long have you had it?

Surely the liability/responsibility is with Vauxhall as it’s less than a year old, why would he need a contract?

Whoops just re read the thread and realised the van could be any age now.

It isn't.

It was 10mo when he bought it, and it's been in dock for over three months - so it's 13-14mo at the very least, probably older because it's broken down "again", and been in for 3mo after this breakdown.

Or, at least, that's how I'm reading it. OP - can you clarify...?

Because your legal consumer rights are always against the supplier you bought from, nobody else. Not that consumer rights probably apply here, because it's a business purchase.

Against Vauxhall, there's the warranty. But he wants something above and beyond that warranty.

Transits are no better, oil pump drives fail at c. 100K miles and wreck the engine.

It's still under warranty and as the new owner who has taken over the warranty, he rightfully does.

Why? my last VX DTi was faultless from the 35k miles right up to the 200kmiles of my ownership

Van runs out of Vauxhall warranty in November this year so it will be 3yrs old then, when it was 2 years old it had two turbos on in November last year at 24,000 miles.
2,000 miles later its gone in again for turbo related issues and over three months down the line they are still investigating why they keep going.
So far it needs piston rings ,con rods, new oil pump, head gasket and turbos.
Yes it will be done under warranty but its the time they are taking to get the job done as its sitting there losing money.
There has been no offer of a hire vehicle as Vauxhall wont give one to me.

We need a lawyer to advise on consequential loss.
Start a new thread with a title something like "my legal rights when warranty repairs take an unreasonable length of time"

New in Nov 2015, you bought it at 10mo, so September 2016?

What's the warranty Ts & Cs say about a replacement vehicle, or their liability for costs arising from the time taken?

Yes November 2015 registered bought sept 2016 i have tried to find warranty Ts and Cs but to no avail.Vauxhall customer care rang today to see if i have collected the van,i gave them what for still no van, rang the dealership now there is a noise somewhere so they have got to code the injectors in as advised by Vauxhall.
I am now trying to get a valuation from the dealership so i get this thing out of my life.

Vauxhall Van kills its turbo at 10 months old and you're comparing that to certain badly maintained transit engines failing after 100,000miles.... I am reading that right aren't I?

Speak to anyone who runs vans and they’ll have experiences of the odd crap van from any brand. I know I have.

Most vans we’ve had from any brand have been fine though. Just choose what suits your needs and budget as they (anecdotally) seem to me to be much of a muchness

If you buy a transit, it will get stolen and will go rusty.
