On a dual-carriageway to escape a traffic queue & because it would also be a short-cut I'm always tempted to use a 'buses only' right hand turn across the adjacent carriageway. No cameras sited & any parked Plodmobile would be easily seen.
Of course sods law that some snide nosey loser with his dashcam or an unmarked Plodmobile will spot me so thus far I have resisted.
BUT at 6am, an empty road or at night I'm SO tempted.
I guess the penalty would be £60 & 3 points.

Well being the god you are, you crack on, as the law clearly doesn't apply to you.

Maybe a bit harsh, but why post something like this?

Do it!

But be prepared to accept consequences if you get caught.

But I would, and most others will berate you for suggesting doing it, but they live In the world of PH amateur lawyers and sueing everyone.

Seems the stock answer on here when someone questions other peoples need to break traffic laws.
I doubt if any driver can claim not to have broken speed limits. Doesn't mean we can not criticise other people for doing stupid things.

As I said in my original post, why put up on here?

Can't see the harm if genuinely no other traffic around?

But at 6am, an empty road or at night, there won’t be a traffic queue???

Would that not fall under a bus lane fine. Which is a civil fine from your local authority. And the cost of which tends to vary based on the LA (£30-100, no points).

My only advice would be do it once, then wait a few weeks at least before trying again. Bus lane cameras have no requirement to be visible. So there could be a well concealed camera, in my experience they do tend to be present wherever a bus gate takes the place of what could be a convenient shortcut.

I would imagine to ascertain the punishment if caught. I would also say doing what OP is proposing is at least as safe as exceeding an arbitary limit by a couple of mph.

No, he'll be making an illegal right turn. It's no different to a normal no right/left turn sign, it applies to all vehicles other than those signed i.e buses

I don't understand why this would be the case. An example I would liken too would be bus gates, or bus only roads in cities. If you contravene them they slap you with a LA bus lane fine. They do not pursue you for entering a closed road or for contravening any sort of national road traffic signage (such as a 1 way or whatnot).

The fine for an illegal right turn has its basis that the courts believe a right turn there would cause danger to other road users. Whereas in the case of a bus only right turn an adequate risk assessment has been done to allow a large vehicle to turn there. So in theory there is a greatly diminished risk at that point to a location with a no right turn sign. The basis of prosecution will be founded from a local bus lane bylaw.

well, you are clearly a powerfully built company director to whom the road laws do not apply, so yes, go for it.

Just don't come back whinging because some "sad little tt" with a dashcam has dobbed you in.......

The reality is that I'm lucky enough to be rarely in such a hurry as to take the risk, but just curious as to possible consequences & the Forum responses.
My licence has been soiled in the past & recently was lucky to get away with a warning when caught exceeding two different speed limits so I'd be a berk to push my luck.

I’m confused. You want to take this short cut to avoid a traffic queue, but think you’ll do it when there’s no need due to lack of traffic.

If you're really unlucky, your first attempt to take this prohibited right turn on a dual carriageway could set in motion a chain of events that ends up with you imprisoned for causing death by dangerous driving.

and another one who talks bks

Actually I have sped in the past. And got caught for it and fined/points. Do you know what? I put my hands up and admitted I had been a div, got over it, didn't spend my time on forums discussing how unfair it was or that I wasn't hurting anyone and didn't ask why the police hadn't got anything better to do.

Got caught speeding, paid fine, took points, learned my lesson. Moved on.
