Was involved in accident 5 weeks ago. Pretty sure it is clearly not my fault (dashcam footage to prove it). But i don't know the status of whether the other party admitted liability. Dealing with my insurance company they have quote from repairer of my choosing and still waiting for engineers report. I can't believe this has taken 5 weeks and nothing seems to get done unless i call them and wait through 45 minutes of overly cheerful music to hear a human. Sorry rant over!

But as to my questions:
1. Is this normal? It is a kit car so i acknowledge it wont be as straightforward as normal but 5 weeks!
2. Is it too late to switch to accident management firm. I guess my insurer has already incurred costs.
3. Would they even be any better at dealing with it?

I declined a hire car as i thought it would just complicate things but im beginning to wonder if that daily expense would have sped things up.

Last bump we were involved in that was not our fault we just dealt with the other persons insurance rather than our own. Once we provided evidence that their insured was at fault things moved very quickly.

Can't say if it's the norm, but I had a similar experience.

Mine was my own fault though (well it wasn't, but the other party scarpered and I didn't have time to record their reg) - and it still took 5 weeks to get a courtesy car (but we finally got them to agree to refund the cheap hire car costs we'd incurred).

Then it took almost 18 months to get the car back to a pre-accident condition as we kept finding things that hadn't been repaired or repaired badly.

It took that long because we wouldn't know what they'd done wrong/not done until we came to do work on the car at a later point.

e.g. until we came to replace the rear brake pads & shoes 6 months down the line, we didn't know they'd disconnected a handbrake cable and relocated the brake pad sensor to a position that couldn't be accessed without stripping off the wing.

Then it took months of arguing to fail at getting the gearbox/clutch fixed as it's now very clunky into 1st/2nd/reverse (considering it had a new clutch & flywheel 2,000 miles previously).

Then they finally agreed to replace the diff that we'd been moaning about since I'd picked it up from the bodyshop.

...and we spotted the bodyshop's valeter sitting in it and revving the nuts off it in the valet bay...but the car was stone cold from the amount of steam coming out of the exhausts.

Their quality certificate & guarantee of work isn't with the paper it's printed on.

My old clio was written of a few weeks ago and I had a cheque cleared in my account within a couple of weeks.

personally I would call them up and tell them you'll appoint a management company if it isn't sorted by a set time. I'm sure the additional cost they'd incur would help to focus their efforts.

Wife had a bump 7 weeks ago, someone changed lanes into her without looking and it was too late for her to stop. Initially other party said she did it, not them. Provided dashcam video and my insurance company saying it is 100% their fault. Our car already repaired, but still no answer regarding liability from other party. I was told that there is no time frame in which they need to reply, but if they do not in the next few weeks, my insurance will be starting legal actions against them.
