Where can I view crime stats over long time period?

I would like to see the changes over time to crime stats in my area.

I realise that reporting methods have changed over the years, however I would like to get a basic overview of crime stats for the past 10 years or more for example.

I have found sites that seem to offer stats only for a specific month (I couldn't seem to select an alternate month or even a wider view).

The stats do not need to be 100% accurate - this is just to resolve a difference of opinion (I think crime has increased in my local area over the years, the other party doesn't).

I also appreciate that stats will be skewed by population growth etc.

However if there is somewhere (hopefully free) where I can view these stats - does, anybody know?

Keep in mind that the relationship between recorded crime and actual crime has varied considerably over the years.

Thanks for that.

My primary interest was car theft and burglary, but was also interested in general crime as a whole.
