I think you're on dodgy ground.

Many years ago, I had a purple cover fitted over my motorcycle headlights (it's hard to believe I ever thought that enhanced my cool factor). I was booked and fined because 'it looks like a blue police car light'. The policeman did seem to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed that day, and i guess you'd be ok 99% of the time, but I'm pretty sure they're illegal based on my experience.
