Legal or not?

We can hold a car in lien if they haven't paid, difference is they have the cars.

Can we clamp it til they pay?

Bit different to randomly clamping but it's really getting on my tits now.

Don’t think you can clamp but nothing stopping you immobilising it in some other way if you have a lien over it. Or block it in your workshop?

Customer still have the cars.

It’s illegal to clamp in the UK.

A repairer's lein requires possession. No possession, no lein.

No it's not that was another customer.

They made the stupid mistake to complain about an oil leak (which we told them was there) so the Mrs went and picked it up to fix it and we just kept the car for 6 weeks til they finally contacted us asking for finance which we declined then two weeks later money came.

This is two jobs both left cars with on trust and they've taken the piss.

We've got a card reader now and it is quite literally pay or no car which is such a shame as it is genuinely the minority over majority.

I've just let both voicemails asking what's going on.

Otherwise it's post invoices, give them 7 days and MCOL I guess but I've never used it before!

I shall pop by one of their houses on Monday and hopefully the other this weekend. Maybe a face to face will get them to pay.

Only for parking offence on private land. Cars can be clampled for debts.

Also cars can be clamped in railway station/property car parks for parking offences.

A garage cannot clamp a customer's vehicle on a public street, on a driveway, in a public car park or anywhere else away from their own premises, for any reason, including the owner owing them money!

Cars cannot be clamped on private land in Scotland - not even by DVLA
