Speeding fine close to Nurburgring - over by 6 KPH...
Discussion
Attended the Destination Nurburgring (DN20) trackday back in Sept 2018 with a couple of friends, one of whom has just received a speeding offence notice/fine via the post. Seems to be a road side camera.
Offence took place about 500m from the entrance to the Ring on a public road, not far from Apex rental cars.
Speed limit for the road 50 kph.....friend was alleged to be doing 56 kph (+6 kph equivalent to about 3 mph...)
Fine EURO 10.00
Letter apparently states the measuring device was used to detect the offence is confirmed to be gauged...
Anyone else had such a fine?

I speak German as well and just checked a few website and they both confirm € 10, euro is indeed the amount they charge.

Geschwindigkeitsüberschreitung Außerort bis 10 km/h - Bußgeld 10 EUR = Speed over the limit, upto 10 km/h - fine amount 10 euro.
I was there at that time and there was a mobile speed camera parked on the verge as you head up the hill from Apex and then down the hill past RSR (about .5KM from entrance of ring as you say)
It was in the 50 zone and pretty obvious although I wasn't sure if it was actually working. It appears so!

How does one pay exactly 10,00 EURO fine from a GBP account...?
When I use my internet banking to send money to my Dutch account i can select if i want to pay the amount in sterling or in euros. so you should be able to select euro's, enter the amount (10) and then your bank will use their interest rate (which won't be the best one) to transfer the correct amount.Timbuktu said:

I've seen similar on motorways in Switzerland. It was in the 50 zone and pretty obvious although I wasn't sure if it was actually working. It appears so!

In my part of Italy it would have taken all of five minutes for either the camera lens to be spray painted over or, rather more inventively, the whole unit to be turned through 90 degrees so that the side of the offending cars only would caught on film.
They also don't seem to flash to alert motorists to mobile traps. The Germans are clearly much more law-abiding than my neighbours

Bit annoying that the DVLA pr what ever name they go by just gave the details out, that's my opinion.
Any way he just sent all the paper work back with a 10 e note attached
Hope they accept it. he did take copies of all docs and the 10e note just in case he gets pulled over when he is next in Geramny

Should have sent the completed paper work back with a copy of a 10e note attached Bit annoying that the DVLA pr what ever name they go by just gave the details out, that's my opinion.

It's not the only area of law where the Germans have a more progressive approach.
Take drink driving, for example, a fine is all you get at lower limits, or at least you used to, its a while since I lived there so it may have changed. That's the lower limit that our own politicians are suggesting, or in Scotland's case have, we go along with. On the flip though if you have any alcohol in your system you are deemed at least partially at fault irrespective of the nature of the incident. I quite liked their approach, seemed fairly grown up.

And what about if a German car was involved in an incident here? Bit annoying that the DVLA pr what ever name they go by just gave the details out, that's my opinion.
