What was going on, with the M11 at Harlow today?
Loads of Ariva Hire vans, and 5 or 6 strange camera devices on tripods. WTF was going on?? is this part of the survey into m-way tolls, or something even more sinister?

There's something properly dodgy going on on the M11. Yesterday at two in the afternoon ish I was driving back from Cambridge to London and saw a Ford Focus parked up on one of the bridges directly in the middle with a guy in it taking notes. Today, at almost the same time, the guy was right there again, sitting in his Focus on the bridge. Anyone else seen him?

I hope thats not the case, thats a nice bit of motorway where you can make good progress especially at night. I have seen people overcook it at the traffic light controlled roundbout at the harlow sliproad though - if you dont know it, that bend is a bit deceptive if approaching at around NSL..

Sorry no idea what was going on here BUT I would love to know what's at the exit just before the Loughton exit (going Northbound). It says 'works vehicles only' and I've been tempted to drive through just to see.
There is an office/warehouse type building there.

I like the route heading out of London at night - once you run out of the three lane road and it turns into an unlit, empty, two lane twisty motorway it's perfect.

You have to be properly on the ball - it's rude to put on the high-beams and blind the oncoming traffic - and yet you can't see more than 100m in front of you so every time the road turns you don't expect it and it always turns way sharper than you thought!

I'm afraid the M11 is ripe for a bit of interference from the Essex Partnership, it's busy, fast and safe, the only time it wasn't when they had cameras during the Stansted upgrade,

It's the control centre for the M11 (part of it) and for part of the M25. Visited it several years ago and got to watch all of the traffic monitoring cameras. Motorway police are also based there.

Oooh - always wanted to know - do the people that monitor the motorway cameras notice someone nailing it in the outside lane? And if so will they ever send out one of the police cars after them?

It is the traffic police ops centre so that's probably not a good idea!

You know that feeling though - when you're getting a bit carried away in the fast lane and a police car with lights and sirens flies past in the other direction on the motorway - there's always that thought in the back of my mind "Are they after me? Are they just going to the next junction to turn around and chase me to give me my 6 points?"

I know it all to well...guilty conscience and all...easiest thing to do is make a U-turn at the next junction then again at the next, back the way you were going, the hunter becomes the hunted and it must totally confuse the BiB's if they are after you
