Right so I'm I got disqualified for 18 months in my first year of driving (stupid I know). Then a few months into my ban I had a letter for speeding. After going to court and all that I got 6 points for the speeding so my question is do I get banned again once my first one is up or do I just have 6 points? I wasn't told I would have to retake my test but I'm guessing will have to.

So you got caught speeding while on a driving ban, went to court and only got 6 points for speeding with nothing for driving while disqualified?

Must be a 'no homework' night tonight

The speeding offence took exactly 6 months to go to court which I found suspicious, I haven't been behind the wheel since I've been banned.

The 6 points in the first two years is not a ban but a revocation, it means you have to retake both parts of the driving test and apply for a full licence again.

That's what my guess was. I did get offered to do a course to knock some time off the ban so would it still be the same situation then or what? I'm just confused as to what's gonna happen really, do I reapply for my license then do the test and everything again straight away?

Of course - 'disqualification' means you are disqualified from obtaining or holding a licence.

You're going to need to win a multiple rollover on Euromillions to be able to insure anything with an engine larger than 10cc though so it's probably only hypothetical...

I've already done quotes and they're not even that bad, I was expecting a lot worse. That was with the ban and points declared too, it was like 2k a year for a 1 litre micra

I'm going to assume you were caught drink or drug driving to get a 18 month ban? I'm surprised that they still ran with the speeding offence as you were already disqual. I'm also going to assume it was a high speed for the six points.

I'm not sure if it will go back to a provisional licence, have you tried speaking to the DVLA?

So at a guess the first ban was 18 months for drink or drug driving rather than speeding>?

Be worth doing an online licence check to see if you disqual sits next to 6 points loved to see a screen shot wtith your name, licence number etc hiddened.

Might be an error but I can't see how you got 6 points issued, while disqual fro 18 months, should of be revocation for 12 months so once the 18 months was up you could apply for a provisional and do theory and test/extended test.

Might be someone messed up (occasionally known to happen) and they have indeed endorsed your licence with 6 points and no revocation as happened.

Presumably once the 18 months is up your driving with 6 current points adn on egg shells for 6 months ish.

Does that not open pandora's box or do the DVLA just say oh well the court have done X not Y thats up to them.

You can get points whilst disqual. I stopped a disqual driver and they gave him six points at court! Although he was already disqual! Thats another story...you can also get points and not have a driving licence.

The points were for speeding which happened before the ban, they just took longer to go to court

Sorry, no sympathy for you whatsoever. Drink driving and speeding within a few months of passing your test. Do us all a favour and keep off the roads unless you've really learned your lesson.
