Bang to rights, so not questioning the speeding, however the 'Notice of Intended Prosecution' relating to the office only came today (the letter is dated the 20th November 2018),but the date of the offence is 9th October 2018.

I thought these had to be served much quicker than this, so is it an enforceable document/fine ? If not, do I need to respond in any way to the letter, or just leave it ?

Any help appreciated, as haven't been done for speeding for years ….

Is the V5 log book in your name? If not then they have to write to the registered keeper first who I guess gave your details, and hence the delay.

The car is on personal contract hire, so the log book is held with Audi in this instance.

In that case, the NIP would have required to have been served on Audi / VW Finance within 14 days of the alleged offence. No such time requirements for subsequent notices.

And yes, you will need to respond to the s.172 notice - the completed form will need to be back with the SCP within 28 days. I'd suggest using a signed for delivery service.

It's probably a long shot, but you could ask Audi / VWF when they received the notice.

The time delay was more than likely Audi getting it to you.

They probably served it correctly to Audi inside the allowed time window.

As above.

85/70 is usually a course. Otherwise, a £100 fixed penalty with 3 points.

With the offence date of the 9/10 and you, as the 2nd in chain now already have your nip, it is very unlikely that the first one was served outside 14 days to Audi

You may, if Audi date stamped it, and they received it after 14 days.

Having dealt with Audi UK on vehicles through them your be lucky to get any record out of them in a timely mannor. You will have to go to court and for go the conditional offer.

I suspect its take it on the chin, unless you can't take the point due to number on your licence.

If your labour MP and have a sibling as a fall guy/girl you could try using a random russian guy and if you get caught blame, your cold, relapse of a previous illness and your sibling as having filled out the S172 and named the russian guy.

When they get your phone records to show you were in the area just use the shaggy defence, "it wasn't me'.

A pal of mine spent 3 months in one of her majesty’s hotels earlier this year for just that. Yes they nailed him with his phone records.

No, he got 3 months of which he served about 6 weeks and spent the rest of the time tagged.

I thought the sentence was shocking. Yes it was perverting the course of justice but we’re talking about a man in his 70’s with no previous convictions and no record of violence.

Yeh, just read a guy who robbed the a shop with a plastic knife got 2 year suspended as he was on meds and started drink which messed up his meds. Took 170 cash and fags.

If you don't pay or co-operate with goverment money collection you get book thrown at you.

Don't pay your council tax I remember an old old lady going to prison until some anonmous person paid it.

Rob a shop and most things suspended sentence.

Don't name a speeder, 3 months inside!

Why on earth would he do that ?

Where he went wrong was he needed to claim to be a carer so he wouldn't be jailed......

They really go through that trouble for just a speeding issue? Unbelievable.

And no, I don't buy that "ignore the original "crime" business as this is PCOJ". It has to be seen in light of the severity of original crime. I am sick of this broken justice system over which we have no control what so ever.

It went to Audi first which is the cause for the delay.
Mind sharing where abouts this happened? Just curious...
