I suffered no data and was basically unable to use all devices on my account yesterday.

My works phone was offline and I was unable to do some work all day.

Its suggest by OFcom that compo is not unreasonable and some contract apparently have a clause stating they can been terminated due to breach. I have read very conflicting reports online. The other issue was MSO on the BT Network which went me internet was off in the afternoon so I struggled with EE teather device as not all my eggs are in the O2 basket!

Never experienced an outage like this with EE.

Anyone complained to O2 yet?

Nope - these things happen. It was under 24 hours of disruption.

O2 have said customers will receive a discount on their January bill

No point changing providers. They have all suffered from outages over the years. I've been with 02 for years and this was there first serious disruption I had suffered.

Not seeking anything from 02.

divide the number of your monthly rental charge by the number of days in the month..........

assuming 30 quid pcm, and it's December that's about 97pence they owe you.

That wasn't worth your time to work out was it?

It was only worth my time because I got paid for the 30 seconds it took me to write this post.

I would suggest that if the business phone is so important, that you get a redundancy system in place for when a network has issues.

If you cant get to a wifi and use wifi calling/whatsapp/slack/email then I suggest its you that has the problem not O2, pretty certain their T&Cs do not commit to 100% availability and that includes their business mobiles, which I assume you have?

You might get a day of data compensation or such, but fk... seriously complaining about losing a day and not having a fall back in place... maybe it will teach you to have that now.

if you found out that the network was down you could have technically got any other sim and used that for the day, can't do that due to locked phone, then ask your business for an unlocked phone.

I did that once a month for 18 months travelling backwards and forwards to Singapore, plug in SG card and take Aus card out, reverse the process when I got to Syndey, had no downtime and also had a back up for that to as I lived by my phone at the time.

Most businesses would expect a 4 hour SLA to resolve a critical failure, I don't see why business users shouldn't pursue o2 for such a catastrophic error.

I'm on EE so unaffected but if I was then I'd have no issues with a day's outage.

We have become too heavily reliant on mobile tech. It's like the old conversation of "when I was a yoof we all arranged to meet at X on a Friday night to go to Y and if you weren't there we went without you and you caught up with us later!"

Yet here I am 30 yrs later, being one of those gimps who goes to Glastonbury wondering if he's got enough juice packs to power him through 5 days lest my phone run out of battery ... FFS! laugh

It's probably good for the soul to have some time off tech, unless your business depends on it. In which case, maybe a good ideas to have a plan 'B', reserve number, a PAYG cheapie on another network as a backup.

I would argue if your business relies on a mobile phone only, well, surely it can't.

A person needs their own resiliency plan - what if you drop the thing down the bog.

Terrible business risk assessment being dependent on one device.

So - do O2 need to start cutting some cheques for people it has no relationship with too?! (Tesco, Sky Mobile, Giffgaff, Lyca, etc)?

But is what businesses expect the same as what businesses have signed up to?

Were your shoulders sloped as you typed that.

Their business model is to supply various telephony products and it failed. It's unacceptable.

It would depend on what guarantees are included as part of the business contract. The penalties for breaches would be outlined there too.

How much is your loss?

I was caught up in it, an afternoon of no emails or calls was bliss. I'm thinking of paying them.

Nothing happened that couldn't wait until today.

I'll be submitting a claim for counselling as my mental elf went ballistic as he couldn't get online for a few hours.

That boy is twisted man.
