Speaking as a conservative I am disgusted with what Teresa May did to our police force. Huge cuts 23,000 IMHO mean they largely ignore theft and it's an insurance issue for them. They don't have the resources to investigate. I lost 42,000 as the insurance refused to pay (long story).

I thought I'd pass this on. Tell your friends.

Your average policeman gets paid fk all. it's not a profession that attracts people with much intelligence. What do you expect?

Are you after advice on why being a conservative is your biggest problem or did you manage to answer it yourself in the opening post?

Seconded, we need to hear the full story. With regards to critical comments regarding what Theresa May has done to UK policing you have a receptive audience hear, so come on, full story please.

Not just the police side but the insurance too.

Thanks. All ears.

The starting salary isn’t great, but there’s some very rapid increases in the first two years, and after 7 or 8 years as a PC it’s not far off £40k with overtime available.

That’s not going to make you rich, but it’s above the national average by a decent margin.

I expect someone calling other people thick to understand that front line officers don't decide what they will investigate and what they won't.

Yet they’ll throw in a fecking swat team if you’re seen doing 35 in a 30...

Priorities = all wrong. Law is on the side of the criminals in the UK.

Sorry, but this sort of garbage has no credibility.

Any fool knows SWAT teams are only deployed for 36 and above. Costs too much to fly them over for less than that.

It wasn’t the job for me, though not cause of the money.

On the upside, you do sometimes get to stop scrotes scroting.

Hasn't theft always been an insurance issue? (If you have insurance) if the insurance company didn't pay the £42000 you believed they owe you surely that's an insurance issue?

Wow, what a cascade of bks, starting with the extremely un-detailed OP and moving on through extremely tedious ‘police are thick’ and ‘only after speeders’ Waily Fail nonsense

My missus is CSI with one of the big forces and for some of the jobs and people she has to deal with she earns roughly £33k with all her shift allowances included, it's absolutely fking paltry given the type of work and seriousness off the job.

You'd need to pay me a lot more than £40k to even consider becoming a copper, because the hassle and risks aren't worth anywhere near the pay.
