BIB christmas fun from quite a few years ago......

Driving back from my girlfriends in North Leeds on Christmas day night. On the A63 going towards the A1, must be a good 10 years ago now. All single carriageway roads, extremely quiet, it was about midnight. What do I see going round the roundabout but about 15 horses all having their own little race. Round and round in circles.
I pull up and phone 999. Tell the police operator what's going on and she says 'WHAT??'
Anyway, a few minutes later, in every directing there's a mass of silent blue flashing lights - in EVERY direction mind, all converging on this roundabout.
I have NEVER seen as many police respond to a call.
So funny. They tried to catch the horses - fat chance - and after a while a farmer appears with a big bail of hay which he dumped in the middle of the roundabout. That was it, race stopped, and all the horses were tucking in.
'that's bought you about 10 minutes' he said.
I left some time after. It was quite a funny site.
I take it Xmas day nights are quiet then!!
