I got a ticket thru the post telling me i had been done for the above, question is do i swallow it or is there a procedure of entitlement for me to check when the revenue raiser was last calibrated with out me appearing Bolshi.
Just for the record it was on the 339 just out of Basingstoke,a new forward facing cam but with the little white lines on the wrong side?/other side of the cam?

It is your duty as a free citizen to make as much administrivia as possible by asking for the pics etc... Just this delaying tactic often accounts for the green slime losing the paperwork and going over the time limit. If everyone adopted this policy next week they would abandon speed kills and make flower arranging illegal and start harassing houswives.

I recognise this camera. So it *is* live. Being a truvelo and set off by an "induction loop"(?) in the road in front of it it doesn't show up on the radar detector. Only a GPS device will warn you.
Some twit painted lines for a rear facing GATSO and then installed a forward facing Truvelo....but I'm afraid this isn't going to be any use.
I am amazed that the limit of the thing has been set so low. 10%+2 and not one mph over it would seem...there again I always pass this one at 59.8mph
I'm sorry to hear you've got an NIP.
Too late now but consider an Advanced Driving course (observation skills that I guarantee will mean you never pass a GATSO above the limit again) and perhaps a GPS based "detector".

Not a twit a modern truvelo' do both front and rear photo's www.truvelouk.com/rearphotography.phtml
The so called 10%+2 limit which is guidelines for police not scamerita is the figure when they WILL stop you not the highest figure without being stopped. So in a 60 they will stop at 68mph and above. So if it was set at 69 it is above the guidelines, I expect it is set at 68

I am pretty sure these ones don't though...but I will check next time I pass! Thanks for the link!

As do I. Therefore a 69 would trigger it.
I know the road. The scameras are there to "protect" a crossroads at which there has been the odd smash. No wonder as the natural speed on that section of the 339 is probably 80 plus. The road crossing is a tiny rural road that you can see into if coming from Newbury but cannot coming from Basingstoke.
What happens is that drivers from the rural roads get bored waiting for a gap in the traffic. That and the "natural" speed being high - eventually someone driving quickly with their head in the clouds in going to come into contact with a bored rural driver and a nasty T-bone happens.
The accidents shouldn't happen - there is enough visibility - but they do - so they've put up speed cameras. In this case they *may* actually help by slowing the 339 to 60 there will be more time to react when a numpty from the side road pulls out.
There again - the prangs could just as easily happen anyway.
Just down the road from my nick. Having been away for a few weeks on honeymoon useful to know that it is now live. To be fair, the A339 has claimed a lot of lives in recent years. Mostly idiot bikers who ride into trees at 3 figure speeds.
Given the relatively quiet location of the camera I can't help wondering how long it will last before a Basingstoke resident either removes it or parks a scrap/stolen car by it and torches it.
Not that I'm advocting such wanton vandalism of course.

O/T: Congratulations! Hope you enjoyed your honeymoon.
Agree about the 339 - but I always thought it was the Basingstoke-Alton section that did in the bikers. Mind you I've driven that section at quite a pace and *there is no need to fall off*. Its one of the best marked roads in the country now.

I'm not sure anyone cares about it. They're well known, pretty easy to spot, and once you know they're on you'll never be caught by 'em. I doubt anyone will get riled enough to be bothered to harm it...

Xxplod sir, I rather like your style.
Best wishes all,
Dave.
www.notsoaccurate.com may be useful, particularly the PRE SUMMONS DISCLOSURE page.
seems a bit strange that if it's bikers who have an annoying habit of becoming part of the surrounding florae and fornae, that they install a truvelo cam which gives absolutely zero speeding deterrent to bikers as they don't run front plates!
of course, I'm sure there's no requirement to think to be a 'road safety engineer' these days...

As it would happen i was on the way into London on the 316 about 2 am this morning, trundleing along at 40mph when i saw blue lights from an ambulance in the mirror,as i trundled along in my black cab with one eye in the mirror i passed a cam ,at the same moment the ambulance went by next to me,*BLING* *BLING*...............i kinda got the feeling it was one of those "Hamlet" moments, then thought i really hope the scam can tell the diference between me doing 40 and the ambulance doing 60+.
