Dont usually watch this - but the remote was just out of reach and the missus was in the kitchen and refused to come into the living room and change channel for me..

Anyway.. they had a piece on a woman that has been murdered (well, suspected murder - they still havent found the body). They have CCTV footage of the woman being bundled into her car. They have CCTV footage of the car driving along a dual carriageway. And they have TWO nice clear pictures of the back of the drivers head from gatsos. Now if only one of those sightings had been from a real, live trafpol they may actually have had a chance of finding the woman in the back - possibly still alive.

Remember, dont have nightmares? We're all living in one.

So good to know that CCTV makes our lives safer. It's good to know that the huge trade-off in loss of privacy has a real pay-back.

Where the hell else do you think they'd get the footage for Crimewatch?

Must admit CCTV in itself doesnt bother me in the slightest. If someone wants to film me picking my nose in a traffic jam, or getting stuck behind three bimbling pensioners when strolling down the highstreet then they are welcome to. It just frustrates me when its seen as an alternative to a physical police presence, rather than as a tool to augment it.

I liked the alternative theory, of instead of a camera with a birds eye view of the surrounding streets.
Instead,
a policeman, sat high on a tower-chair, like a pool attendant, with his beady eye on the chavs on the street, and wagging a forefinger in their direction
whilst blowing a whistle
'oy, Nnnnnooo'

Every time I go to Manchester or Liverpool - I am struck by the sheer number of CCTV cameras....und this ist so helpful that it seems they have to set a target und draconian penalty for not reaching this arrest target in one of these cities.... und in the other one I noted some of the cameras were missing

CCTV dont bother me as I always wear a "Balaclava" when in town, or maybe a disguise with a mask as I object to being filmed! as if guilty of something, I also wear 1" thick milk bottle joke glasses while driving! and keep the sun visor down too at all times, false Moustaches are really good as well
